If you know me, I’m a massive Star Trek Fan. Ever since I was a kid it was something that I have always enjoyed and to this day I always get excited when some new Star Trek hits the screen big or small. While I haven’t watched much of Discovery, I never had the intention of getting CBS All Access.
Enter Star Trek: Picard.
The Next Generation introduced audiences world wide to Patrick Stewart and the character Jean-Luc Picard. For seven seasons Picard led the crew of the Enterprise D on weekly television that eventually led to four theatrical released films. After the film Nemesis, the cast was ready to hang it up in 2002. In 2018 rumors had started floating around that a new Star Trek series was in development about Picard. A few months later it was announced that the show was going to production and Patrick Stewart signed on, even after he said he had no interest in coming back to the role after Nemesis.
The first trailer was released back in July at the San Diego Comic Con. Let’s take a look.
That was amazing. It got me hyped for the show. I had a great time watching that and seeing Jeri Ryan as Seven Of Nine again was a big surprise. While that would’ve been a cool hidden surprise to leave off the trailer, I was satisfied seeing it. They kept Jeri Ryan’s involvement a surprise and it was also announced that Jonathon Del Arco was coming back as Hugh. Also Brent Spiner as Data brought back so many memories of watching these characters while I was growing up.
Not too long ago the second trailer was released at the New York City Comic Con. The first trailer didn’t disappoint so this has to match.
That was even better! WILL RIKER IS BACK!!!! Riker was my favorite of the characters and while I know he won’t be in every episode the reunion with Picard is going to be an emotional one. Take my money now!
As you can tell I’m excited for this series. It’s my most anticipated show for 2020 and I can’t wait to see it.
Star Trek: Picard is scheduled to premiere on January 23, 2020 on CBS All Access.
